I have been working at an inner-city hospital for 8 months now. I have learned quite a lot. Bells constantly dinging...automated voices always talking. Unhappy people...Amazing images of the human body on computer screens...Great smiles...Beautiful women...Arrogance...Death without dignity...Difficult endless struggles...What's the point of letting this person live on?...Happy, go lucky, people...White coats, funny looking gowns, and my blue scrubs. Hard nose surgeons, bitchy nurses...and mismanaged funds. Union busters and secret meetings...Bodybags and G-strings...Addiction to drugs, rage, and lots of reading. Conversations on politics...Bicycles outside ready to go home...

I am amazed at how anyone (men especially) can work in this environment as a "career." Lucky for me, I don't do "careers." This is job number 30 something in my adventures. I'm not sure how much longer I will work here, but it has been an adventure and learning experience...a look into the American idea of health care. Nursing is dominated by women, and for good reason. Most men would not want to, or be able to handle the tasks required for this job. In fact, more and more doctors are now women...maybe for the same reason. Emotionally, working with patients in a hospital can be very draining. I am lucky. I work as a transporter. Point A to Point B. I can make it as simple or complicated as I want to, and I never go home wondering if I killed a patient.

I am getting ready to buy a 3/4 ton truck and a fifth wheel trailer to live in. Yes, I am about to become "trailer trash." I have been planing this transition for many months now. I plan to buy the truck by the end of this month and the trailer by the end of summer. $5,000 for the truck and $5,000 for the trailer. After that, I will be hitting the road, working seasonal jobs and exploring North America with my modern day "horses and wagon."

In order to save money faster, I have decided to move out of my 1 bedroom apartment (cost $500 per month) and into my indoor storage unit (cost $40 per month) This will be luxory compared to the many months that I lived in the back of my Ford Ranger pick-up truck...and many other months that I lived in my tent.
